Arabia

 

1. Ibn Seena (from 980 to 1037)

He was famous for his research in medicine, plans and animals as well as sound and light. He wrote 276 books, which were translated into many languages. Among his most famous work is [Al-Qanoon] an encyclopedia of medicine, which became the main textbook in European medical school for five hundred years.

 

2. Ibn Al-Nafees (from 1210 to 1288)

He was one of Damascus physicians. He was a pioneer in the field of medicine. He was the first to discover the blood circulation in the lung. This was one of the greatest Arab discover in the field of anatomy. His book [Sharh Tashreeh] Al-Qanoon'' is of great importance.

 

3. Jaber Ibn Hayyan (from 721 to 815)

He is considered to be the father of Arabic alchemy. He stated the importance of experiments and made great progress in both the theory and practice of chemistry. More then eighty of his great books were translated in to Latin. He was among the first to prepare crude sulfuric and nitric acids.

 

4. AL-Razi (from 865 to 925)

He was a great physician and chemist. He wrote a number of theses on various diseases especially also wrote medical reference book which were translated into Latin. The greatest reference of them all was ''Al-Hawi'' the biggest Arabic medical encyclopedia.

 

5. Ibn Al-Haytham (from 965 to 1038)

He was born in Basra and lived in Egypt. He was one of the greatest Arab Scientist. He wrote more than 200 books on mathematics, physics, astronomy, philosophy and medicine. He made great achievements in the field of optics. He was the first to explain the structure of the parts of the eye.

 

6. Ali Mostafa Mesharrafa (from 1898 to 1950)

He was an Egyptian mathematician and physicist. He wrote a number of original theses on the ''Quantum Theory''. He was a great university professor of mathematics. He was famous for his studies in matter and radiation. He was the first to state that matter and radiation are two forms of the same thing
